2015 SA Homebrew Fest Beer Competition Rules


The San Antonio Cerveceros proudly presents the 1st Annual People’s Choice Homebrew Beer Competition.

General Rules

  1. The Homebrew competition is open to any amateur home brewer age 21 or older.

  2. All registration entries must be received by the deadline - October 15th, 2015

  3. All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).



How to Register
Registration for the event is simple and easy.  But please pay close attention to the specific information requested detailing the specifics about your submitted homebrew.  The registration window is from
September 18th, 2015 through October 15th, 2015.  To register, email the following information to Douglas Van Griner, Competition Coordinator at dvangriner@att.net.  

  1. Name (s) of Applicant

  2. Home Brewer Club or Team Name

  3. Name of Beer (Be Creative!)

  4. ABV %

  5. Yeast Type Utilized

  6. Hops or Other Ingredients Utilized 



People’s Choice Competition
The People’s Choice competition will be conducted by popular vote of attendees at the 2015 San Antonio Homebrew Festival on November 7, 2015 from 11am - 3pm.   Submission shall be listed on the menu for the event.  We would appreciate your attendance to discuss with reviewers the details about your beer.  All attendees age 21 or older will be given a sampling cup and a single voting ticket for their favorite beer on tap at the festival.


The awards ceremony will take place at 3pm on November 7th, 2015 in conjunction with the San Antonio Homebrew Festival at Brackenridge Park – Koehler Pavilion.  Awards will be given for the three most popular beers based upon the total number of votes cast by the attendees.


Submissions must be dropped off in person by Monday, November 2, 2015 at 7pm at 4931 Ali Avenue, San Antonio, TX 78229.  The keg will be transported to the November 7th Homebrew Festival that morning and can be picked up at 4pm.  Kegs not picked up by 4pm will have to arrange to pick up the keg at the drop off location.


Keg Submission Requirements
Each submission will consist of a keg (minimum 5 gal) with a two ball lock attachments for gas in and beer out.  
No Commercial Kegs or Kegs smaller than 5 gallons allowed!
